Hello Pete, I wonder if I could have your permission to use Griebe’s photo of “Madame Rene”, the Southend palmist, in a forthcoming journal of the “Romany and Traveller Family History Society”? My hope is that one of our members – who have Romany Gypsy, Traveller and Fairground ancestors – may be able to identify her. Many thanks for sharing these wonderful photos with the world. Sharon

Yes, use the photo of the Palming at Southend 1954. Just give a reference to where you came across it. Is your Journal online? If so, send me a link. – Pete

Hi Pete, many thanks for allowing me to publish the Southend Palmist in our journal. It’s print-only but I’ll be happy to perhaps post an image of the appropriate journal page on our Society’s website in due course. Let me investigate the options. Sharon

Hi Pete, I would like to ask you about posting some of your London photos on a Facebook site that discusses old London. Is that ok and if so what would you require re attribution? None of the images would be used commercially. Your pages and images are wonderful and invoke deep nostalgia; thank you for sharing them. Many thanks, Lindsay

Thanks for identifying the Cut and the Artichoke pub, Caroline, in Chapter 6: The South Side. Hope you find the photos interesting. I was nine in 1954 and even for me it seems like a different world. Again, many thanks. Pete.
